WARRICK COUNTY, Ind. — A Newburgh man was arrested after allegedly fleeing from police on a motorcycle and crashing his bike into a concrete curb on Epworth Road on Sunday afternoon. Nicholas Cameron, 22, was thrown from the motorcycle on impact and struck a railroad crossing arm post.
The chase began at approximately 3:25 p.m. Sunday when Indiana State Police Trooper Randy Huddleston spotted Cameron traveling west on Indiana 66 near Grimm Road and clocked his motorcycle at 61 mph in a 50 mph zone.
Huddleston attempted to stop the motorcyclist as he turned north on Epworth Road, but Cameron increased his speed and Huddleston lost sight of the motorcycle. As Huddleston continued the pursuit he saw the motorcycle had crashed just north of Telephone Road.
Police investigators determined that Cameron lost control of the motorcycle at the curve on Epworth north of Telephone Road and struck a concrete curb. The impact threw him from the bike into the railroad crossing arm post.
Police said Cameron was wearing a helmet and refused medical treatment. He was taken to the Warrick County Jail and charged with resisting law enforcement, driving while license suspended, reckless driving, no proof of insurance, driving on an expired registration and speeding too fast to avoid a collision.
